One of India's famed luxury trains, the Golden Chariot was built on the lines of the famous Palace on Wheels, the pioneer of luxury trains in India. Offering voyages through some of the most exotic destinations in South India, not only blessed with natural wealth but also rich in history, culture and heritage.
The Golden Chariot was named after the legendary Stone Chariot of Hampi. The luxury tourist train is operated by Karnataka State Tourism and Development Corporation (KSTDC). On the other hand, the hospitality services are catered to by a leading name in the industry 'The Mapple Group'.
The luxury train offers two itineraries- Pride of the South and Splendour of the South. These journeys cover destinations from Karnataka, Goa, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Both the itineraries are 7 nights and 8 days train tours. Each of them includes World Heritage sites, marvellous specimens of architecture, sightseeing tours and much more.
About the Train: Cabins:The Golden Chariot comprises of 19 coaches which includes 11 luxuriously furnished Air-Conditioned Saloons of 4 sleeping chambers (Cabins) each, 2 Dining Cars, 1 Bar Lounge, Business Centre, Mini Gymnasium & Ayurvedic Spa. Intricate carvings, artistic décor, and furniture inspired by Mysore and Hoysala architecture add charm to the train coaches.
Each cabin is equipped with modern amenities. The coaches are set with features such as:
