The mansion was built by King Marthanda Varma to honor his martial arts tutor. After renovation the space is praised for culinary art. The restaurant specializes in serving Chinese, Continental, North Indian, Mughlai and traditional Kerala cuisines. Some of the must try at the restaurant are Syrian Christian Duck Roast, Karimeen Pollichathu, Duck Curry, Karimeen Mappas, Thamarappam, Appam, and Idiappams (string-hoppers).
